Kenya

The government of Kenya has declared an ultimatum to foreign workers to get their visa paperwork in order or face deportation. The Kenyan Ministry of Interior has stated that these undocumented workers—often western people working for NGOs, aid organizations, and volunteer groups— “will be jailed” if they fail to legally register within 60 days.

The clampdown comes as the government claims that there are thousands of foreign workers that are in the country illegally taking jobs that could be going to Kenyans.

The government has plans to keep track of all immigration records by digitizing the records of expats and will tighten up the issuance of visas to foreigners. All foreigners should adhere to the new processing by supplying their original work permit, official endorsement on their passport, an official payment receipt, and a copy of their alien card.
